Journaling and My Sticker Obsession

This past year I took up journaling our travels. How is that different from this blog? Well, it’s much more in the moment, allowing me to write thoughts and experiences down long before I put them on here (I know, I take forever with my posts). I consider it “pre-blogging.” It’s been a lot of fun and I often stare at my journal wistfully, wishing the next trip would come sooner!

The impetus for me to do this came when I saw an article on The Points Guy about cool travel must-haves, or something like that. It linked to bobo design studio’s awesome travel journal. I was immediately hooked! Ordered and used it for the first time on our trip in January 2025 to Kauai. We later visited their flagship store in Palm Springs. They have everything a journaler could want!

Yes, this girl is a WHORE for National Parks. (I also got the bobo tote bag with the same phrase on it!) Don’t expect my journal prose to be too sparkling… Photo: Amy Fredericks

Now, the bobo people post cute example videos of their journals, with amazing drawings and doodles. I…can’t do any of that. I’m a prose person. Rob is an amazing artist (that was his career before Disney) but I’m not going to call him over to doodle something every time I’m journaling.

So I turned to the next best thing to drawing things myself…STICKERS! I know, it might be silly, but I love using them to illustrate my journal entries. And, with a few exceptions, everyone has stickers! Well, (almost) everyone with a gift shop…. Disney is a big exception, for obvious reasons (kids like to stick them everywhere!).

And now I find myself also craving and collecting stickers that have nothing to do with my journal…it’s turning into a sickness!

Have I filled any of these yet? No. Will that stop me from buying another new one? Also no. There are from Pipsticks, Amazon, and Big Moods. Photo: Amy Fredericks

But I can stop anytime, I swear!

The internet is my downfall, of course…so many websites to buy stickers from when we are not travelling. Sigh. That will have to be another post!

Big news as I post this…I finished/filled up my first journal. Now on to the next one, for our next trip!
