I came out of my social shell last weekend. One of my favorite points and miles podcasts, Let’s Get to the Points, had a meetup in West Hollywood. Since I’d never been to a meetup about this hobby, I made the trek up. The meetup itself was superfun but I was reminded why Rob and I moved from LA (we lived up there briefly in 2016) back to Orange County. The traffic was terrible and West Hollywood is not near any freeways connected to OC. I really hated the drive up and back.

The event was held at a lovely little Chinese restaurant, Kung Pao Bistro. I had some of their orange chicken and it was yummy.
I didn’t really mingle a lot (never been my thing) but I did talk and share a few stories with the people at my table. I have no trouble giving a lecture to a class of 70+ people but talking to strangers at a gathering is tough for me. I know, I’m weird. So just talking to my tablemates was a big accomplishment for me.
Seats.aero was one of the sponsors of the event. They are a great site for searching for award seats and setting alerts. It’s thanks to them that I got us business class seats on Air France to Paris for next year. (I’ll have to write a post on planning our upcoming Paris trip!) I wore my Seats.aero shirt to the meetup and got a luggage tag out of it. Sweet!
Big thanks to Mitch Shannon, Serena, Miguel, and Nicole for bringing everyone together. I loved being around other people who love points and miles. It made up for the horrible drive. Now I just need to work on talking to more people and taking more pictures! Next time…
